What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, also known as CBT, is a type of talking therapy that uses practical techniques to help you maintain good mental health and wellbeing throughout your life.
CBT is based upon the idea that generally thoughts, emotions and behaviours can feed into one another to keep difficulties with mental health going around in a vicious cycle.
It is a very collaborative therapy where you work together with your therapist to look at individually what will work best for you and what will help you move towards the quality of life you are looking for.
Essentially, CBT empowers you to become your own therapist in time, meaning that if you experience any difficulties in the future, you will have the knowledge and tools to help yourself through and maintain good mental health and wellbeing.
Generally, sessions tend to last up to 60 minutes but sometimes may be shorter or longer depending on what is being worked on that session.
